BIGBANG’s music videos always give you a lot to digest, and Monster is no different.
This song has a catchy tune, and the singing/rapping is quite good on the whole. Monster continues the powerful and intense style you saw in previous music videos Fantastic Baby and Blue. I would say that Blue is still their best music video of late, but really, none of BIGBANG’s recent work was terrible. Especially if you are a long-time BIGBANG fan, you will just eat up anything that they come up with, right?
So we have some utterly absurd hairstyles here, including G-Dragon’s devil horn, TaeYang’s Mickey Mouse ‘do. I also saw some Asura’s Wrath eyes going on, which is interesting and makes me wonder who’s helping BIGBANG to create their CGI and special effects. The locations are nice but the editing of this piece is quite chaotic most of the time, so you don’t really have a chance to get a good look at anything.
Monster is definitely visually interesting and something new to the K-pop world. The song sounds good without the video anyway.
