This movie is obviously geared towards young boys who love playing with their toy cars and wish to drive around in an actual vehicle one day. But as with all Pixar films, Cars 2 is fit for anyone and everyone. Sequelitis? This sequel ain’t have none!
Cars 2 expands on the world of Cars, now including planes, boats and other stuff that is all very creative. This movie takes you all around the world, so you will be seeing a lot of famous world landmarks, different visual styles, and things you never knew existed in other countries. The animation is absolutely dazzling, making this a buffet for the eyes. There are many exciting action scenes and a substantial amount of comedy, although I didn’t laugh out loud as much as I hoped.
I love all the many characters, and the voice acting is superb. However, I must warn people about the tow truck character Mater (voiced by Larry the Cable Guy), who might become a little too noisy for adult enjoyment. But hey, we all know a Mater in our real lives, don’t we. That guy who means well but is a total embarrassment most (all) of the time. Cars 2 teaches the kids some good life lessons, and maybe the grown ups can take away something as well.
The Pixar brand is the safest bet you will ever make if you want to watch a good movie. Although Cars 2 doesn’t attain the emotional epiphany like in Toy Story 3 or Up, it is still better than 99% of other animated flicks out there (including rival Kung Fu Panda 2).
